Canada's fastest-growing city scores new NHL-sized twin pad arena

To keep up with the growing demand for increased recreational and cultural venues in Canada's latest boomtown, the City of Oshawa, Durham College and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) partnered to establish a new, NHL-sized twin pad arena.

Technology and unique program mix driving record international enrolment growth at Ontario's newest university

A record number of postsecondary students from around the world are calling the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) home - at least for the next four years. Ontario's newest university received more than 800 international applicants for enrolment in fall 2005, a 43 percent increase over 2004, and a 221 percent increase over international enrolment in fall 2003.

Sun shines on new UOIT Solar Vehicle Team

A group of engineering students at UOIT have formed the school's first ever Solar Vehicle Team. The official announcement and launch of this endeavour will take place in the East Atrium of the Science building at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23. Engineering students reach finals for prototype car design

Julia Green-Johnson, an assistant professor in the Faculty of Science at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) is about to find out, following the recent announcement of a $228,000 research grant from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food's Innovation and Risk Management Branch, with support from Agriculture Canada and industrial assistance from Lallemand Inc.

UOIT first in Ontario for first-year enrolment growth

For the second consecutive year, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) was number one in Ontario for first-year enrolment growth in September 2004. Now, despite a system-wide decline of 6.5 per cent, UOIT has seen applications from secondary school students rise by 15.6 per cent and is the provincial leader for first-choice applications at 32.3 per cent.
