Regent Theatre closed while ceiling is repaired
January 23, 2012
OSHAWA, ON. – The historic Regent Theatre at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) will be closed for approximately four to six weeks while the ceiling is repaired.
“The safety of our students, faculty, staff and community members comes first,” said Murray Lapp, vice-president, Human Resources and Services. “The ceiling was thoroughly inspected after a small portion fell while the theatre was empty and that inspection has confirmed the ceiling must be replaced.”
All efforts will be made to accommodate our students by delivering lectures via online technology as well as potentially securing an alternative venue. All affected students will be kept informed via email and by their professors.
Community concerts and events will either be rescheduled or relocated. Ticket holders are encouraged to consult the Regent Theatre website at www.regenttheatre.ca.
