UOIT-based survey finds Durham residents in need of R&R

Residents of Durham Region say they are in need of rest and relaxation. That’s just one of the key findings of a survey conducted by the Centre for Evaluation and Survey Research (CESR) at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT).

UOIT’s Strategic Mandate Agreement emphasizes commitment to outcomes-based learning

In response to the Province of Ontario’s directive to the post-secondary sector to submit a Strategic Mandate Agreement (SMA) proposal, UOIT will focus on promoting student success, providing greater access through multiple pathways to degree completion, achieving efficiencies, and cultivating innovation and quality in areas of teaching and research.

Three graduate students at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) are set to receive welcome support to further their research in the areas of science and engineering, thanks to a series of new Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Graduate Scholarships. Dr. Moustafa El-Gindy, associate professor, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science (FEAS) is leading a team of researchers in a project valued at $515,770 over two years to develop new protection devices for side crashes involving passenger vehicles and large trucks.

The unique aspects of the SKY 3D/National Geographic documentary work showcased ACE’s capability to deliver made-to-order extreme weather. The Student Association (SA) election campaign period will be held from February 6 to Wednesday, February 15. This year 23 candidates have declared their intention to run. A number of polling stations are available at both campus locations as well as online.

UOIT women’s hockey team plays in historic outdoor game in Hamilton

Members of the UOIT Ridgebacks women’s hockey team enjoyed the privilege of playing in the first-ever Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Outdoor Classic on January 19 at Hamilton’s Ivor Wynne Stadium. The special event marked the first time in nearly a century that a Canadian university hockey regular season game had been played outdoors.
