Women’s soccer team advances to national semi-finals

Ridgebacks dig deep for a 1-0 quarter-final overtime win in Nova Scotia

The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) has advanced to the semi-final of the U Sports Canadian national soccer championship at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.

Shynice Williams’ (third-year Health Science) dramatic overtime goal pushed the Ridgebacks women’s soccer team past the Trinity Western Spartans 1-0. The quarter-final victory over Trinity Western sets up a semi-final match against the Laval Rouge et Or on Friday, November 11 at 4 p.m. The winner of that game will play for the national championship on Sunday afternoon.

The Ridgebacks earned their spot at the national championship after captured the university’s first-ever Ontario University Athletics (OUA) title.
