Two new comprehensive international surveys illuminate the growing impact of programs offered by the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science (FEAS) at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.

U.S. News and World Report

In the 2017 edition of the U.S. News and World Report survey of the Best Global Universities, FEAS ranks in the top third of all university engineering programs in Canada.

Based on specific methodology, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology ranked No. 7 out of 20 Canadian engineering programs. In Ontario, the university placed No. 3 out of nine engineering programs in the report.

Globally, FEAS ranked No. 178 out of 400 international engineering programs in the survey.

ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects

In the meantime, ShanghaiRanking’s 2017 Academic Ranking of World Universities shows two FEAS programs (Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering) placing in the international survey.

Mechanical Engineering:

  • The University of Ontario Institute of Technology was rated in the top 201 to 300 programs among world universities (tied for 10th in Canada; tied for sixth in Ontario).

Electrical Engineering:

  • The University of Ontario Institute of Technology was rated in the top 301 to 400 programs among world universities (tied for 19th in Canada; tied for 10th in Ontario).

ShanghaiRanking examines more than 4,000 global universities and ranks them in 52 subjects across natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences and social sciences. Universities meeting a minimum threshold of research publications are included in the survey.

ShanghaiRanking began publishing Academic Ranking of World Universities by academic subjects in 2009.
